What Is Known So Far Of The 2019 Honda HRV

Sneak Peak At The 2019 Honda HRV
While the HRV isn't nearly as famous as its Civic and Accord brethren, legions of El Paso Texas drivers have come to love this sporty little CUV. At Rudolph Honda, we understand that Honda HRV owners are a distinctive breed that accept nothing less than the best. The upcoming 2019 Honda HRV is sure to defy all expectations and set new sales records. Here's a short summary of everything you need to know about the new Honda HRV.

Outer Styling Changes in the Making

If you want to know what the 2019 Honda HRV will look like, the current Vezel sold in Japan offers some clues. Expect front LED headlights reminiscent of the most recent Civic's hardware for starters. A new chrome grille, redesigned fog lights and 10-spoke alloy wheels measuring up to 17 inches in diameter are likely. In addition, narrower rear windows and a roof spoiler will probably round out the exterior styling changes.

Cabin Upgrades That May Make an Appearance

One thing that buyers of the new Honda HRV can bank on is an improved interior featuring more upscale materials. Expect to see high-quality stitching on leather seats as well as updated accents around the dashboard. Based on the Vezel currently available in Japan, a redesigned three-cluster instrument panel with a cool blue backlight is likely. Honda will surely make the newest HRV even quieter with improved sound insulation. As with every other Honda on the market, the HRV's networking capabilities are handled by the famous HondaLink infotainment system. The upcoming HRV should boast the usual satellite radio services like SiriusXM and Pandora as well as new additions like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. With any luck, we'll see one or two extra USB ports and maybe even a physical volume knob located next to the excellent Display Audio interface.

Standard Features for Every Trim Level

We know for a fact that every HRV hitting the market later this year will boast topnotch halogen projector headlights by default. Push-button starting could very well migrate from the EX trim level to the LX as a standard feature. Every trim level will get some if not all of the superb Honda Sensing's active driver safety features. A new Sport trim level found on other Honda models like the Accord is a good possibility.

Potential Safety Enhancements in the Works

By no later than 2022, every Honda will have the Honda Sensing safety package by default. For the time being, the HRV will benefit from adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking and lane departure warnings. Certain trim levels will almost certainly get blind-spot monitoring and forward collision warnings as well. As far as passive safety features go, you can't stuff any more LATCH anchors and airbags into the HRV than it already has.

Engines, Transmissions and Drivetrains

It's a given that the new HRV will come with a revised version of the 1.8-liter inline-four that powers the 2018 model. Transmission options will probably boil down to either a six-speed manual or a CVT. All-wheel-drive will only be available if you opt for a CVT regardless of trim level. Paddle shifters for CVT models could become an option on certain trims in 2019. What's more, the 1.5-liter turbo currently found on Civics and Accords could become available to HRV buyers.

Expected Release Dates and Starting Prices

Although no release date has been officially set in stone, the 2019 version of the HRV should hit dealership lots sometime before the end of the summer. The MSRP of the entry-level LX HRV should be about $20,000 while the high-end EX-L Navi should retail for about $26,000. While a hybrid version of the HRV is unlikely to hit the United States this year, such a model would probably start at about $28,000. When all is said and done, the Honda HRV is the most popular vehicle in its class due to its reliability, refinement and value. The 2019 Honda HRV looks to be every bit as popular as the iterations that preceded it. At Rudolph Honda of El Paso Texas, we won't rest until we find the right Honda HRV at the right price for each and every one of our loyal customers.
